MEDITATION

Background

Osho

Bhagawan Shree Rajnesh or Osho. One of the most influential Indian masters of the twentieth century. He used to teach Philosophy, until his disciples grew into a movement of enlightenment-seeking followers. His techniques and teachings have roots in Upanishads, Taoism, Buddhism, Tantra, Zen and Sufism. He did not write any books, yet hundreds of them are available, both in print and digital formats. The books are compiled by his disciples, and they are transcripts from his talks in Sangas, gatherings of followers and devotees which purpose is to transfer knowledge, insights and answer questions.
About the name - Osho - he said it was derived from 'oceanic'. The dissolving into ocean is the experience, and the experiencer is thus given a name 'osho'. He also discovered that the word 'Osho' had been used in the Far East to mean 'The blessed one, on whom the sky showers flowers.'
"Osho is an enlightened master who is working with all possibilities to help humanity overcome a difficult phase in developing consciousness."

About Osho's
Dynamic Meditations

Picture
In his long and continuous practice, Osho developed a large number of guided or directed meditations followed by specially composed music and Osho's voice recorded for the purpose of accompanying them.
Kundalini, Nataraj and Nadabrahma are the most popular ones. Dynamic meditations include dance, laugh, movement in standing and sitting position, producing sounds and specific breathing.
One of the most peculiar is the Gibberish meditation. The first-timers are confused and shy at the beginning, but after five or ten minutes, the emotional release gets stronger and the meditative state is easily attainable.

"In Buddha's time, dynamic methods of meditation were not needed. People were more relaxed and their lives were simpler. Now life moves at a much faster pace, which creates much more stress and tension. Just sitting directly in silent meditation is not easy."
"The meditations are designed to first release the accumulated stress of body and mind, so that it is easier to experience the thought-free and relaxed state of meditation."

Sri Prem Viren and Osho Centre Rishikesh

Picture
This is where I received my initiation and blessing. Osho's presence in this space is magnetic.
It is on the main road in Laxman Jula, Tapovan neighbourhood of Rishikesh, surrounded by busy traffic, numerous hotels, and up the road from a tall bunyan tree.
My spiritual name is Ma Prem Astha. Prem means 'love', and Astha means 'trust'.
Swami Prem Viren says about Meditations:
Meditation is a inner journey from unconsciousness to consciousness. Unawareness to awareness. Or in simple words we can say, is a inner journey from Mind to NoMind. It's a state of absolute silence. And in that Inner Silence everything is transformed into the body mind. That inner silence is the transformer. It changes all attitude towards life. And all energy start moving in the right direction in the body-mind.
This silence is the source of all the bliss, joy and celebration.
All that is of higher values in life is born out of this womb, the womb of inner silence.
It is immensely blissful.
